Job Summary:
The primary goal is to support the Product Support & Logistics (PSLD) division's effort in achieving the inventory and customer service objectives in a manner consistent with PSLD. As a Inventory Analyst at Caterpillar, you will support Production Withdrawal (PW) related work for Cat Parts. Inventory Analyst will coordinate and distribute the various workload functions necessary to ensure material is allocated and shipped for emergency and line down situations for production facilities and suppliers.This function involves working on projects and ad hoc analysis to enhance systems and process efficiency within Cat Parts.
What You Will Do:
- Responsible for providing Business and System support to production and supplier withdrawals.
- Performing work to achieve corporate supply chain performance targets focused on inventory reduction, increased inventory turns and improved parts availability.
- Identifying opportunities for improvements including cost, quality, and service of customer needs and issues.
- Implementing and maintaining monitoring systems to provide information on shipment status, shipped date, in transit location, estimated arrival date, and actual delivery date.
- Working effectively with diverse, multi-functional teams to apply the supply chain logistics process and leading team efforts to develop a lean parts distribution network.
Additional Information:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering / Math's / Science / Commerce.
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience in Supply chain management, Logistics, 3PL, Warehousing, Service parts Logistics and supplier performance management.

- Involves detailed root cause analysis for discrepancy between systems and documentation of the same.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Level Extensive Experience:
- Adapts documents and presentations for the intended audience.
- Demonstrates both empathy and assertiveness when communicating a need or defending a position. Communicates well downward, upward, and outward.
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Level Extensive Experience:

- Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate.

Supplier Management: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience, and skills into real practice.
Level Basic Understanding:
- Describes the typical tasks associated with using and managing suppliers.
- Defines common terms and conditions of agreements with suppliers.
- Explains the organizational process for soliciting and selecting suppliers.
- States the roles and responsibilities of one's own and suppliers staff.
Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes.
Level Working Knowledge:
- Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions.
- Recognizes software systems or components used to manage supply chain.
- Summarizes supply chain considerations for different types of products or components.
- Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities.
- Works with a specific part of supply chain management process.
