Lead engineer-Mechanical Engineering-ECE/EEE-10+years-Chennai Job Category: Design Engineer Engineering Job Type: Full Time Job Location: chennai Position Summary Produce concepts, design solutions and drawings of a high quality Engineering projects/New Product development at both component/ module/sub-system, system and at Product level Standard and automated welding equipments/customer solutions. Create mechanical designs and drawings using CAD/Solidwroks- and BOM management through PLM- system. Heavy beams, Drive mechanisms/selection, welding tractors, automation panels /solutions Basic Working knowledge of power electronics/ electrical/ electronics related products in similar associated industries. DFx(Assembly, Manufacturability, Serviceability, Modular, testability, quality, cost, reliability and standards IEC/CSA) Ingress Protection- IP , sheet metal designs , busbars design ,Power devices, wire harness, connectors, PCBAs or similar such components and devices Create product structures and bill of material in line with manufacturing system/ERP systems. Design reports/proposals for customer requirements to different stake holders Work following project management principles of agile/ water fall method in delivering solutions to internal and external customers. Manage projects through Jira or similar tool. Work closely with Power electronics engineers and Test and verification engineers product development/ sustenance projects Qualifications University degree in ECE/EEE . High skills in SolidWorks and Creo ( nice to have ) and Analytical design/ FEM calculations with demonstrated experience. Static and Dynamic structural analysis; Thermal- static and dynamic analysis Experience in design of mechanical solutions/ welding products and accessories with X functional interactions working at component/ module/ sub system and product level. Focus on electro mechanical designs of sheet metals, plastics, machined structures including design of Motors and gear boxes, roller bearings, linear guides, and pneumatic valves and cylinders. DFMEA/DFM/DFA and verification and validations for new product development/Automation engineering projects Experience in verification and validation testing- Thermal , Ingress protection, EMI/EMC, reliability testing etc. Limited to Medium travel is required to support projects, installations, sales and order meeting with customer. As a key member of our India-based team, you will take on the responsibility of leading Mechanical Engineering testing. This role involves planning, executing, analyzing, and documenting design verification testing activities. You will conduct tests using both in-house equipment and external test labs, ensuring compliance with specified standards and project timelines. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with teams in China, New Zealand, and the USA to conduct tests outside of India. Your primary responsibilities will include designing and testing new Electromechanical products, either independently or as part of a team. You will oversee mechanical design projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards. Daily tasks will involve CAD activities, design documentation, product testing, and prototyping. You will develop and implement comprehensive test plans to validate mechanical performance against design specifications, including various testing types such as static and dynamic loading, fatigue testing, environmental testing, and reliability testing. Moreover, you will be responsible for creating detailed reports, maintaining clear communication with the global team regarding testing status and any issues encountered during the testing process. Your role will also involve failure analysis, root cause identification, and ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and security processes within the lab environment. To excel in this role, you should possess a Bachelor's Degree or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering, along with 8+ years of industry experience with a Bachelor's degree or 6+ years with a Master's degree. Proficiency in computer-aided development tools, particularly SolidWorks, is required. Experience with UL/IEC standards, product testing, and familiarity with international standards related to inverters, electrical connectors, polymers, and ingress protection is highly advantageous. Additionally, hands-on experience in preparing prototypes, managing mechanical labs and equipment, designing fixtures, and conducting electromechanical product testing is essential. You should have a solid understanding of DVT tasks, DFMEA, DFR, MS Office tools, plastics, sheet metal, casting part design, cable assemblies, and manufacturing processes. Proficiency in SolidWorks, EPDM, and exposure to CAE tools are valuable assets for this role. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial for successful collaboration within the global team. Experience in high-volume product design and sustaining activities, as well as previous employment in high-power and consumer products industries, are considered advantageous for this position.
