As the Assembly and Test Automation Director, your primary responsibility is to lead a team of managers and engineers in implementing automation solutions to drive manufacturing excellence. This includes improving quality, yield, factory footprint & equipment utilization, labor productivity, and cycle time improvements. Automation encompasses various areas such as material handling, storage & retrieval, manufacturing execution systems, dispatch & scheduling systems, and smart manufacturing programs. Your role involves collaborating with internal and external partners to build and implement strategies aligned with corporate objectives. Encourage individual capability and high-performance teams with clear goals and development plans. Monitor performance metrics to identify and implement continual improvement opportunities. Ensure organizational compliance with company policies and laws, as well as departmental procedures for successful solutions. Responsibilities and Tasks Planning and Implementation: - Develop an automation roadmap to enhance quality, efficiency, productivity, and overall plant performance. - Oversee automation projects from conception to completion, meeting budget, schedule, and quality requirements. - Establish organizational structure and talent to sustain infrastructure performance. Know-how Expertise: - Possess in-depth knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems tailored for the semiconductor industry, particularly Packaging Assembly & Test. - Experienced in automated material handling, such as AMHS or AGV/ ARV, and automated storage solutions like ASRS or stockers. - Familiar with IIOT sensors, systems, and frameworks. - Experienced in dispatch and scheduling systems for high-volume manufacturing environments, especially in semiconductor industries. - Understanding of industrial automation technologies, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, robotics, and vision systems. Team Leadership and Management: - Lead, mentor, and empower a team of automation engineers. - Enhance team competencies through knowledge sharing and industry benchmarking. - Manage staff performance, conduct evaluations, and provide professional development opportunities. - Foster a culture of partnership, communication, and collaboration within the team and other departments. - Manage partner relationships, including vendors. Operational Expertise: - Strong project management skills in achieving site project goals, addressing technical challenges, managing lead-times, and risk mitigation. - Conduct regular meetings with a multi-functional team for successful automation solution implementation. - Troubleshoot automation system failures to minimize downtime. - Develop and maintain user documentation. Continuous Improvement: - Identify areas for continuous improvement in automation processes and systems. - Implement and monitor key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of automation initiatives. - Promote a culture of innovation and experimentation for process automation. Safety and Compliance: - Ensure compliance with safety laws and industry standards. - Develop and implement safety procedures for automation systems and processes. - Conduct regular safety inspections and audits. Requirements: - Engineering graduate, preferably in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics, or Mechanical field; MBA preferred. - Minimum 18 years of overall experience with at least 5 years in leading manufacturing excellence and automation. - 5+ years of experience in groundbreaking projects within complex environments. - Previous experience in establishing a Centre of Excellence for manufacturing automation. - Proven track record of initiating change and leading multi-functional teams through ambiguity. - Strong influencing and negotiating skills to shape decisions and address multiple interests. - Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills. - Additional certifications like Scrum, PMP, and other relevant credentials are advantageous. - Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. - Proficiency in Visio, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Microsoft Project is considered an asset.,
