As the Assembly and Test Automation Director at Micron Technology, you will lead a team of managers and engineers in implementing automation solutions to drive manufacturing excellence. Your main focus will be on improving quality, yield, factory footprint & equipment utilization, labor productivity, and cycle time improvements through automation. This includes overseeing physical infrastructure such as material handling, storage & retrieval, manufacturing execution systems, dispatch & scheduling systems, and smart manufacturing programs. Your role will involve collaborating with internal and external partners to develop and implement strategies aligned with corporate objectives. You will be responsible for enhancing functional area performance by fostering individual capability and high-performance teams with clear goals and development plans. Monitoring performance metrics to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities will also be part of your responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: 1. Planning and Implementation: - Develop an automation roadmap to enhance quality, efficiency, productivity, and overall plant performance. - Manage automation projects from conception to completion ensuring they meet budget, schedule, and quality requirements. - Establish the organizational structure and talent required to support sustainable performance. 2. Know-how Expertise: - Extensive knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems tailored for the semiconductor industry, especially in Packaging Assembly & Test. - Experience in automated material handling systems such as AMHS or AGV/ARV, and automated storage solutions like ASRS or stockers. - Familiarity with IIOT sensors, systems, and frameworks. - Exposure to dispatch and scheduling systems in high-volume manufacturing environments, preferably in semiconductor industries. - Understanding of industrial automation technologies including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, robotics, and vision systems. 3. Team Leadership and Management: - Lead, mentor, and empower a team of automation engineers. - Enhance team technical competencies through knowledge sharing and industry benchmarking. - Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide professional development opportunities, and foster a culture of partnership and collaboration. - Manage partner relationships, including vendors. 4. Operational Expertise: - Demonstrate excellent project management skills, address technical challenges, manage lead-times, and implement risk mitigation plans. - Schedule regular meetings with a cross-functional team to ensure successful automation solution implementation. - Troubleshoot and resolve automation system failures promptly to minimize downtime. - Develop and maintain user documentation. 5. Continuous Improvement: - Identify areas for continuous improvement in automation processes and systems. - Implement and track key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of automation initiatives. - Cultivate a culture of innovation and experimentation to enhance automation processes. 6. Safety and Compliance: - Ensure compliance with safety laws and industry standards. - Develop and implement safety procedures for automation systems and processes. - Conduct regular safety inspections and audits. Requirements: - Engineering graduate, preferably in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics, or Mechanical field; an MBA is preferred. - 5+ years of experience in leading manufacturing excellence and automation. - Prior experience in groundbreaking projects in complex environments. - Proficiency in inspiring change, leading multi-functional teams, influencing decisions, and negotiating effectively. - Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills. - Additional certifications like Scrum, PMP, and other relevant credentials are advantageous. - Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. - Proficient in Visio, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Microsoft Project is beneficial.
