HVDC Control and Protection Engineer

You will be responsible for conducting functional type testing of AC protection functions for HVDC stations in accordance with IEC standards. This involves utilizing secondary injection kits and real-time simulation environments and obtaining certification from authorized external laboratories. - Implement and verify the latest technology developments using Hardware in the Loop (HIL) environments - Set up and maintain the laboratory environment for various HVDC R&D projects - Develop control and protection solutions covering the full development cycle for future HVDC technologies - Develop test cases using EMT tools for testing HVDC control and protection functions in a virtual environment - Create automated test solutions for AC protection functions - Develop virtual unit testing solutions for HVDC protection functions - Assist in resolving issues related to protection functions - Conduct pre-studies for proposed control and protection ideas - Suggest improvements to enhance business operations You should hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or a Master's in Power Systems, along with 2 to 8 years of relevant experience. Knowledge in testing and commissioning of substation control and protection systems, understanding of various control and protection schematics of HV/LV electrical substations, and a basic understanding of communication protocols like IEC61850 and MODBUS are required. Experience with secondary test kits such as Omicron and Doble is necessary, and familiarity with simulation software like PSCAD, MATLAB, and RTDS is advantageous. Moreover, any experience in power system design and engineering will be beneficial for this role. Knowledge of HVDC control and protection systems and experience with protection test case automation using scripts are considered valuable assets.
