Hospital Staff Nurse

Job Summary

The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality patient care, assisting doctors during treatments, and ensuring proper nursing procedures and infection control standards are followed. The role includes patient assessment, administering medication, maintaining records, and offering compassionate support to patients and families.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: GNM / B.Sc. Nursing (Registered with Nursing Council)
• Experience: 1–3 years preferred, ideally in IVF, women’s health, or maternity care.
• Skills Required:
• Strong knowledge of gynecology, fertility treatments, and patient handling
• Excellent communication in Tamil & English
• Compassionate, patient-friendly attitude
• Basic computer and documentation skills

Key Responsibilities

1. Patient Care & Assistance:

• Provide nursing care to female patients undergoing fertility and gynecological treatments.
• Assist doctors during IVF procedures, consultations, scans, and minor surgeries.
• Explanation: Ensures smooth patient flow and comfort during sensitive and specialized treatments.

2. Procedure Preparation:

• Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, and instruments as per IVF protocols.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and support during embryo transfer, oocyte retrieval, and related procedures.
• Explanation: IVF nursing requires accuracy and sterilization to maintain success rates and prevent contamination.

3. Patient Counseling & Support:

• Educate and comfort patients about IVF steps, medication schedules, and follow-up care.
• Handle patient queries politely and maintain confidentiality.
• Explanation: IVF treatment can be emotionally challenging — nurses play a key role in emotional and informational support.

4. Medication & Documentation:

• Administer injections, hormonal medications, and maintain accurate medication logs.
• Record patient vitals, investigation results, and procedure details.
• Explanation: Accurate recordkeeping ensures compliance with IVF lab and hospital regulations.

5. Coordination & Communication:

• Coordinate between doctors, embryologists, lab technicians, and patients.
• Ensure timely communication of treatment schedules and test reports.
• Explanation: IVF centers function through multidisciplinary coordination for time-sensitive procedures.

6. Infection Control & Hygiene:

• Maintain sterile environments in procedure and recovery rooms.
• Follow infection control and waste management guidelines strictly.
• Explanation: Clean and sterile setups are essential for IVF success and patient safety.
