Position Summary The Director of Medical Affairs (DMA) plays a pivotal leadership role in advancing the strategic, clinical, and operational goals of Horizon Health Network. Working with Senior Medical Executive Directors, the DMA will lead initiatives to enhance patient care quality, optimize healthcare delivery, and support the professional development of medical staff. Additionally, the DMA will oversee all employees within the Medical Staff Office, ensuring effective management, compliance, and operational support for medical staff. The DMA will also spearhead efforts to reorganize the Department of Medical Affairs to improve efficiency, streamline processes, and enhance service delivery. This role requires a dynamic leader with expertise in healthcare administration, policy implementation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Key Responsibilities Oversee and implement the reorganization of Medical Staff Offices into a centralized Department of Medical Affairs to improve efficiency and service delivery. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to inform data-driven decision-making. Partner with Senior Medical Executive Directors to implement and oversee Medical Affairs initiatives. Serve as a liaison between leadership, physicians, and the Medical Affairs team to foster collaboration and communication. Lead performance improvement projects in collaboration with Senior Medical Executive Directors. Facilitate communication and engagement between physicians and administration. Develop and oversee programs supporting physician well-being, leadership development, and career advancement. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement Improve Medical Affairs staff workflows and resource allocation. Assist in budget planning and financial management of medical affairs initiatives. Lead operational change management efforts to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Oversee the Regional Privileging Advisor and credentialling process. Develop standardized physician onboarding processes, “first day” experience, and retention strategies. Work collaboratively with the Talent Acquisition team. Monitor physician accountability metrics and support performance improvement plans. Qualifications & Experience Master’s degree in healthcare administration (MHA), business administration (MBA), public health (MPH), or a related field. A clinical background is an asset.Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in healthcare leadership, medical affairs, or a related field.Demonstrated ability to foster relationships across multidisciplinary teams and drive organizational change. Work Environment & Expectations Collaboration with medical staff, hospital administration, and external stakeholders is essential. The role involves both strategic planning and hands-on engagement in daily operations. Strong knowledge of quality improvement methodologies as well as workforce and strategic planning. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Able to act as a “change agent” to support a quality improvement environment. Able to manage multiple projects and priorities, as well as the stress that comes with setting priorities and meeting deadlines. Willingness to collaborate with other leaders within the organization in making decisions relating to medical affairs. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal relationships and ability to work well with staff at all levels of the organization. Establish high and clearly articulated performance standards for self and teams. Respond well to ambiguous situations, uncertainty and change and help others do the same. Energize people in relation to the organization’s objectives. Identify and resolve conflicts and create solutions. Encourage people to express their thoughts, feelings and ideas without fear. Be determined and be able to make difficult decisions. Support others in developing their skills. Act with integrity and treat others with respect. Solve problems by providing information to interested people, establishing action plans and executing effective measures. Directly manage low performance, difficult or tense situations with tact and diplomacy. Ability to work in a team and independently. Good previous work record (performance and attendance). Travel will required for site visits and system-wide initiatives. Knowledge of spoken and written English. Bilingualism is an asset.
