Hemotology Technician

Job Summary:

The Hematology Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic tests related to blood and bone marrow, including complete blood counts, coagulation studies, and peripheral smears. The role requires accuracy, quality control, and compliance with NABL/ISO standards and lab safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect, process, and prepare blood and other body fluid samples for hematological testing.
• Perform routine and specialized hematology tests (CBC, ESR, coagulation tests, etc.) using automated analyzers and manual techniques.
• Prepare and examine blood smears under a microscope for abnormalities in blood cells.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain hematology analyzers and related equipment.
• Record and validate test results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Participate in internal and external quality control programs to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Follow biosafety protocols, infection control, and proper waste disposal procedures.
• Ensure timely reporting of urgent/critical test results to clinical teams.
• Monitor and maintain stock of reagents, controls, and consumables.
• Assist in audits, training, and continuous quality improvement activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: DMLT / B.Sc. MLT / B.Sc. in Hematology / M.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Experience: 1–3 years of work experience in a diagnostic lab or hospital (freshers may also apply).
• Technical Skills:
• Hands-on experience with hematology analyzers.
• Knowledge of coagulation studies and blood morphology.
• Familiarity with LIS and basic computer operation.
• Soft Skills:
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in rotational shifts and under pressure.
