Head of Engineering-Transformer Design & Project Coordination Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the end-to-end design and coordination activities related to Distribution, Power, and Special Transformers (up to 132 KV & 220 KV and 100 MVA capacity). The role requires close collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure timely, optimized, and compliant transformer solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Marketing Coordination

*Plan and align design activities with production execution and marketing strategies.

*Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely project delivery.

*Transformer Design Leadership

*Independently design Distribution, Power, and Special Transformers up to 132 KV & 220 KV / 100 MVA.

*Ensure compliance with BIS standards for all Distribution Transformer designs.

*Design and validate short circuit performance for transformers to meet standards required by CPRI, ERDA, and KEMA.

Client & Technical Interface

*Manage technical discussions and design approvals with clients  and other key customers.

*Participate in techno-commercial discussions to support business development.

Tender Engineering

*Prepare optimized and competitive design proposals for tenders involving *Distribution and Power Transformers.

Cross-functional Coordination

*Collaborate with Procurement, Production, Sales, Quality, Testing, and Service teams to ensure seamless project execution.

*Review and approve Bill of Materials (BOM), and drive the utilization of non-moving inventory and quality-checked goods.

Quality & Process Improvement

*Conduct design reviews and participate in Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) analysis.

*Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify design issues and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.

Qualifications & Skills

*Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

*7+ years of experience in transformer design and engineering (distribution/power).

*Strong knowledge of national/international transformer standards (BIS, IEC, etc.).

*Experience interacting with certification authorities.

*Excellent communication and team leadership skills.

*Proficient in AutoCAD, simulation tools, and transformer design software.
