Role Overview The AGM / DGM / GM – Safety (EHS) will lead the health, safety, and environmental function at the Kurkumbh plant, with a special focus on Major Accident Hazard (MAH) compliance, sustainability (ESG), and continuous improvement in safety culture . The role is critical in ensuring the company not only meets but exceeds Indian and global statutory requirements, and is recognized for industry-leading practices in health, safety, and environmental stewardship. Key Responsibilities EHS & Sustainability Leadership: Ensure 100% compliance with all applicable Indian (Factories Act, Maharashtra Factory Rules, MAH, MPCB, PESO) and international EHS and sustainability frameworks (ISO 14001/45001, REACH, Responsible Care, EcoVadis, CDP, ESG/GRI, TfS). Lead all regulatory, customer, and third-party EHS and sustainability audits—including EcoVadis, CDP, Responsible Care, and MAH requirements—and ensure timely closure of all findings. Develop, implement, and monitor robust Safety Management Systems (HAZOP, HIRA, Incident/Accident Investigation, Emergency Response, Process Safety Management, LOTO, Permit-to-Work, Behavior-Based Safety). Drive the Occupational Health agenda including medical surveillance, OHC, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and comprehensive wellness initiatives for all employees and contract staff. Statutory Compliance and Risk Management: Maintain all legal registers, licenses, consents, and ensure timely renewal and zero non-compliance. Lead periodic plant safety audits, mock drills, risk assessments, and ensure plant-wide readiness for all emergency scenarios. Liaise proactively with regulatory authorities (DISH, MPCB, PESO, MIDC, Fire, etc.) and global clients for EHS and ESG matters. Oversee all aspects of hazardous waste, ETP/STP/MEE, air/water/noise/soil pollution control, resource conservation, GHG and emission reduction, and green chemistry initiatives. Training & Employee Engagement: Develop and deliver world-class EHS, Responsible Care, and ESG training for all levels—staff and contract workforce included. Lead Site Safety Committee, cross-functional teams, and employee engagement programs to foster a “safety and sustainability first” culture. Systematically track and report EHS and ESG KPIs, and share actionable insights with management, board, and external stakeholders. Incident Management & Emergency Preparedness: Lead root cause analysis of all incidents, accidents, near-misses; drive prompt implementation and closure of CAPA; and institutionalize learnings across the organization. Ensure robust and regularly tested emergency response plans, business continuity readiness, and stakeholder communication protocols. Candidate Profile & Preferred Experience Essential: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, or related field. Government-recognized Diploma/Certification in Industrial Safety (as per Maharashtra Factory Rules) is mandatory. NEBOSH, IOSH, Responsible Care, EcoVadis, or other global EHS/ESG certifications preferred. Minimum 10 years’ experience in the chemical industry, with at least 5 years in a Major Accident Hazard (MAH) category company. Currently employed in a chemical company classified as MAH category under Indian regulations. Preference will be given to candidates with experience specifically in aroma chemical manufacturing companies. Hands-on leadership experience in handling EcoVadis, CDP, Responsible Care, and ESG/GRI audits, reporting, and compliance. In-depth knowledge of chemical manufacturing safety, risk management, regulatory frameworks, and implementation of advanced EHS systems. Strong leadership, analytical, crisis management, communication, and digital skills (EHS MIS, dashboards, digital audits). Fluency in English, Hindi, and Marathi is desirable. Why Harmony Organics?
