Job Description – Lead Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer Position: Lead Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer Department: Engineering Reports To: Engineering Manager / Operations Manager Job Summary: The Lead Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer will be responsible for leading and managing all E&I engineering activities across projects, ensuring that all designs, installations, and systems meet technical, quality, and safety standards. The role involves coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and vendors to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and compliant engineering solutions within project timelines. Key Roles and Responsibilities:Project Leadership & Coordination Lead the E&I engineering team throughout design, procurement, installation, and commissioning phases. Review client specifications, project requirements, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (IEC, IS, IEEE, ISA, NEC, etc.). Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil, and piping teams for seamless integration of systems. Act as the primary E&I technical interface with clients, consultants, and vendors. Design & Engineering Oversee preparation and review of SLDs, cable schedules, load lists, earthing/lighting layouts, and control schematics. Review P&IDs, instrument indexes, loop diagrams, I/O lists, and control system architectures (DCS/PLC/SCADA). Approve technical specifications and datasheets for electrical and instrumentation equipment. Ensure design compliance with safety and operational standards. Procurement & Vendor Management Prepare technical requisitions and evaluate vendor proposals. Conduct technical bid evaluations (TBE) and provide vendor recommendations. Review vendor drawings, participate in FAT, and ensure timely material delivery. Installation, Testing & Commissioning Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases. Supervise loop checking, calibration, and system integration activities. Troubleshoot and resolve site-related technical issues. Ensure all E&I systems are installed and tested according to design specifications. Team Management Supervise and mentor junior engineers and designers. Review and validate team deliverables to maintain quality standards. Conduct training sessions and encourage technical skill development. Documentation & Reporting Maintain and update all E&I documentation including design basis reports, MTOs, as-built drawings, and progress reports. Support project management in engineering progress tracking and forecasting. Qualifications & Experience Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Instrumentation / Electronics Engineering. Experience: Minimum 5 years in Electrical and Instrumentation design, engineering, and execution in the oil & gas / petrochemical / EPC industry.
