Company Description Globus Thenken is a fast-growing consulting firm catering to specialized client needs in the renewable energy space, based in the US and beyond. The firm provides strategic, analytical, and engineering services ranging from system design, asset monitoring, and operations management to customized business intelligence services for leading developers and investment firms. The senior design engineer will be exposed to a range of Solar PV Development activities, including conceptual solar designs and system production modeling, performance data analysis, grid-to-grid interconnection, and project management, if desired. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the dynamic and rapidly growing renewable energy industry. The qualified candidate should be bright and hard-working, with a strong interest in renewable energy and engineering. Role Description Research all available inputs for generating high-quality 2D/3D CAD drawings for commercial/utility-scale solar layouts and compile related screening studies for projects Conduct detailed production modeling including shading analysis and loss factor estimation Electrical design, including SLD/3LD for electrical circuits and sub-station components Work with developers/engineers off-site to support utility grid-interconnection process Use data analysis in excel/python to analyze the performance of solar sites and analyze KPI(s) Create NEC-compliant single-line diagrams, panel schedules, or connection diagrams for solar electric systems, using computer-aided design (CAD) software Qualifications Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or higher (preferably Electrical, Mechanical, or energy-focused) with prior analytical/engineering experience in Solar PV with a developer or IE 6 months - 2 years of experience in AutoCAD, PVSyst, Sketch Up, Helioscope, and other design software Should be able to develop detailed layouts and electrical design packages for solar PV systems that meet all contractual, code, and permitting requirements Ability to understand civil and structural design requirements Ability to develop Single-line and Three-Line diagrams with required electrical details for Solar PV systems in accordance with NEC, IEEE, NESC, utility interconnection tariffs and requirements, and local AHJ as necessary Proficiency with AutoCAD software, including the use of data links, external references, dynamic blocks, and layer management Working knowledge of NEC, with a thorough understanding of Article 690, and a basic understanding of Articles 240, 250, 310, 691, and 705 Understanding of PV design principles and associated electrical design calculations Perform detailed solar system calculations, including sizing, shading analysis, and energy yield estimates Having experience in PVCAD and PVCase software will be a plus. Understanding of photovoltaic systems and electrical components Excellent communication and organizational skills Working Conditions The candidate will be required to have some flexibility in working hours, with potential afternoon, late evening shifts overlapping with the US time zones.
