Job Title: Assistant Manager-Maintenance Department: Maintenance Location: Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu Reports To: Operations Head Industry: Raw cashew Processing Job Summary The Maintenance Manager will oversee all installation, repair, and upkeep operations of the mechanical, electrical, and utility systems in the cashew processing unit. This role ensures optimal functioning of all machinery and infrastructure, reducing downtime and ensuring smooth production in compliance with food safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Plan and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all processing equipment (Cooking, Sizing, Shelling machines, Bormas, peeling units, sorters, graders, and packing lines etc.). Lead and manage a team of technicians, fitters, electricians, and contractors to ensure efficient maintenance operations. Minimize breakdowns and downtime through quick troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Maintain and update equipment logs, maintenance records, and spare parts inventory. Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and food processing regulations. Coordinate with the production team to schedule maintenance without affecting throughput. Manage utility systems including boilers, compressors, HVAC, and water treatment plants. Oversee installation and commissioning of new equipment and plant expansions. Prepare and manage annual maintenance budgets, including spare part planning and cost controls. Liaise with external vendors and service providers for specialized repairs or AMC (Annual Maintenance Contracts). Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure machine reliability and safety. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. 5 to 10 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in food/agri-processing (cashew industry is a plus). Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical controls, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, GEP, and other food safety compliance standards. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
