Roles and Responsibilities of a General Fabrication Fitter: Read and understand fabrication drawings before starting the job Check components received from other work centres for correct dimensions as per the drawing Ensure machining stock is available on required surfaces before fit-up Mark and measure steel parts such as plates, channels, and beams as per drawing Prepare floor/base layout using chalk or marker to position and align components correctly Check and match individual parts or segments on the layout before starting fit-up Carry out accurate fit-up using alignment tools, jigs, and fixtures Tack weld parts and re-check critical dimensions and alignment before final welding Follow all safety guidelines and wear proper PPE during work Willing to work in night shifts and extended hours; assembly skill is an added advantage
