Gastroenterologist

Job Summary

The Gastroenterologist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary system. The role includes providing out-patient and in-patient care, performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients with gastrointestinal and liver-related disorders
  
• Diagnose and manage conditions such as GERD, IBS, IBD, hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, pancreatitis, and GI bleeding
  
• Perform and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, and sigmoidoscopy
  
• Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure patient care
  
• Prescribe medications and develop individualized treatment plans
  
• Manage in-patient admissions and follow-ups
  
• Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and other specialists
  
• Respond to gastroenterology-related emergencies
  
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
  
• Follow hospital protocols, infection control policies, and ethical standards
  
• Participate in quality improvement programs, audits, and continuing medical education
