As a Product Development Technician based in Mumbai, you will play a crucial role in transforming clothing concepts into tangible, well-fitting, and high-quality garments. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire process, starting from the initial design sketch to the final product ready for sale both in physical stores and online. Collaborating closely with designers and managers, you will be instrumental in translating their creative visions into tangible samples that are feasible for production. Your expertise will be utilized in preparing comprehensive product documents, commonly known as tech packs or spec sheets, which outline all the essential details about the garment including size measurements, stitching specifics, fabric types, buttons, zippers, and more. Additionally, you will be tasked with developing grade charts that illustrate how measurements vary across different sizes such as XS, S, M, L, and XL. Your keen eye for detail will be essential as you inspect sample garments to ensure they fit accurately, appear aesthetically pleasing, and adhere to the required manufacturing standards. In cases where improvements are necessary, you will provide suggestions for enhancements. Your role will involve close coordination with pattern makers, sample makers, and production facilities to ensure that the design specifications are meticulously followed. Prior to mass production, you will conduct thorough inspections of the products to verify that they align with the company's stringent quality benchmarks. Regular visits to factories will be part of your routine to assess samples, oversee production processes, and monitor quality control measures. It will be your responsibility to meticulously track each stage of garment development to uphold project timelines and meet deadlines effectively. Furthermore, you will be required to ensure that all garments comply with safety regulations and legal standards as applicable. To excel in this role, you should possess a fashion or garment-related diploma or degree along with at least 2-5 years of experience in clothing product development or technical design. Your knowledge of garment manufacturing processes, sizing principles, and fit assessment will be invaluable. Proficiency in creating and interpreting technical garment documents, conducting quality checks, and willingness to travel to factories as needed are essential requirements. Strong organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and proficiency in software tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and product management applications are prerequisites for this position.
