Position Overview: We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Furniture Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for design and a keen understanding of materials, ergonomics, and aesthetics. You will be responsible for creating innovative and functional furniture pieces that enhance both residential and commercial spaces. Key Responsibilities: 1. Design Development: Conceptualize and create original furniture designs that meet market trends and client needs. Utilize sketches, CAD software, and 3D modelling tools to bring ideas to life. 2. Material Selection: Research and select appropriate materials, finishes, and colours that align with design concepts and budget constraints. Ensure sustainability and durability in material choices. 3. Prototyping: Collaborate with engineers and craftsmen to create prototypes and models. Test prototypes for functionality, comfort, and safety, making necessary adjustments based on feedback. 4. Collaboration: Work closely with other designers, architects, and clients to understand project requirements and objectives. Participate in brainstorming sessions and design reviews. 5. Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, competitor products, and customer preferences to inform design choices. Analyze sales data and customer feedback to refine existing products. 6. Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met. Prepare detailed specifications and documentation for production. 7. Quality Assurance: Oversee the manufacturing process to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards. Conduct regular evaluations of finished products for quality control. Qualifications: • Bachelors degree in Furniture Design, Industrial Design, or a related field. • Proven experience in furniture design or a related industry. • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite). • Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and ergonomics. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. • Creative problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. • Portfolio showcasing previous design work. Work Environment: The Furniture Designer will work in a collaborative studio environment, with opportunities for site visits and client interaction. Flexibility in remote work may be offered based on project needs.
