Key Responsibilities: - Develop, port, debug, and document core firmware support for various DRAM technologies like DDR5, LPDDR5/5x RDIMM, LRDIMM, 3DS, etc., on AMD Desktop, Mobile, and Enterprise SoCs. - Collaborate with emulation/simulation teams during the pre-silicon phase to validate memory hardware and firmware. - Work closely with hardware validation teams to optimize memory signal integrity, enhance performance, and ensure robust feature support. - Assist memory validation teams in debugging from initial power-on to achieve full functionality in a timely manner. - Create custom memory firmware features for both internal and external customers. - Engage with technical leads to grasp firmware scope and ensure timely implementation to meet schedules and milestones. - Collaborate with internal and external teams to maintain a high level of quality and satisfaction throughout the firmware lifecycle. - Demonstrate strong organizational skills, technical acumen, and a proactive attitude to effectively collaborate with geographically dispersed technical teams. - Thrive in fast-paced and dynamic environments, demonstrating a desire to succeed and excel. Qualification Required: - Bachelors or Masters degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent with 10-15 years of experience. - Comprehensive understanding of firmware development cycle, integration, and verification/validation for pre-silicon and post-silicon SoC designs. - Proficiency in low-level C programming and debugging for embedded systems. - Ability to systematically troubleshoot complex failure mechanisms at the IP, subsystem, and system levels. - Previous exposure to testing platforms (Simulation and/or Emulation) and involvement in board, processor, or ASIC bring-up. - Sound knowledge of memory industry standards and technologies such as JEDEC, SPD Data, I2C/I3C, DDR4/5, LPDDR4/4x/5/5x UDIMM, RDIMM, LRDIMM, 3DS, ECC, Mode Registers, Self-Refresh, etc. - Experience with DRAM initialization/training algorithms, memory timings, addressing, and overclocking. - Proficiency in debugging memory initialization and training issues, hardware/software interfaces, and complex CPU and firmware problems using JTAG, source code debuggers, and other tools. - Familiarity with source control systems like git/gerrit. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information effectively.
