Job Title: Quality Manager – Laboratory Department: Quality Assurance Reporting to: Director- Quality Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly meticulous Quality Manager to lead and maintain the quality management systems (QMS) of our laboratory. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with multiple national and international standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 17025, DGAQA, and Defence SAMAR certifications. The Quality Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality systems, driving internal audits, handling external assessments, and ensuring the lab meets all technical and documentation requirements. Key Responsibilities: 1. Quality System Management Develop, implement, and maintain the lab's QMS in compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 standards. Lead Management Reviews and ensure continual improvement processes are in place. Draft and control quality manuals, SOPs, work instructions, formats, and policy documents. 2. Certification & Accreditation Oversight -Ensure the lab maintains valid certifications/accreditations including: ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) ISO 17025 (Testing & Calibration Labs) DGAQA Approval Defence SAMAR certification - Coordinate with external auditors and agencies for surveillance, renewal, and expansion of scope. 3. Internal Audits and Corrective Actions Plan and conduct internal audits across departments Identify non-conformities and drive effective corrective and preventive actions. Ensure timely closure of NCs raised by internal or external audits. 4. Documentation & Records Control Ensure all documents and records related to testing, calibration, personnel qualifications, and equipment are properly maintained, traceable, and archived. Manage document version control and ensure compliance with relevant document retention policies. 5. Training & Competency Ensure timely closure of NCs raised by internal or external audits. Identify training needs and ensure lab personnel are qualified and competent as per accreditation requirements. Conduct or arrange training sessions for internal teams on QMS and audit preparedness. 6. Communication & Cross-Functional Coordination Act as the primary contact point for all accreditation bodies, certification auditors, and defense quality authorities. Work closely with technical, production, and dispatch teams to align quality practices across functions. Key Skills & Requirements: Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 standards Experience with DGAQA and Defence SAMAR certifications (preferred) Excellent understanding of laboratory operations and testing protocols Proficient in internal audit procedures and root cause analysis tools Strong documentation and communication skills Hands-on with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Educational & Experience Requirements: B.Sc / M.Sc / B.Tech / M.Tech in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field Minimum 5–8 years of experience in ISO 17025 quality management in a lab Lead Auditor Certification (ISO 9001 or ISO 17025) is preferred Prior experience handling NABL audits, DGAQA inspections, and defense quality systems is an added advantage
