Fiber Design Engineer - OSP Planning (IQGeo Knowledge)

As an OSP (Outside Plant) Design Engineer at our company, you will play a crucial role in designing fiber optic networks using your expertise in IQGeo GIS software. Your primary responsibility will be to create efficient and cost-effective OSP designs while ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Collaborating with various teams, you will support the planning, construction, and maintenance of our fiber optic infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: - Design and plan fiber optic network routes, considering feasibility, cost, and constructability. - Utilize IQGeo software to create, manage, and update detailed network maps, fiber assignments, and splicing schematics. - Prepare detailed engineering drawings (e.g., FCDs), bills of materials (BOMs), and other relevant documentation. - Ensure designs adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards. - Identify and resolve design-related issues and provide technical support during construction. - Maintain accurate records and documentation of all design work. - Potentially assist with permitting processes and right-of-way acquisition. - Contribute to process improvements and best practices within the OSP design team. Qualifications Required: - Proven experience in designing fiber optic networks. - Strong working knowledge of IQGeo GIS software.
