About the job role The Performance Engineer position is a key member of the project team and is responsible for analyzing, optimizing, and enhancing the performance of our client's Wind or Solar and energy storage systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience analyzing operational wind or solar assets, implementing performance optimization strategies, and ensuring contractual compliance. This position requires strong cross-functional collaboration skills, as you will regularly interface with Asset Managers, O&M providers, and financial stakeholders to drive performance optimization, ensure contractual compliance, and provide data-driven insights for financial reporting and decision-making Scope of Responsibilities (including, but not limited to) : Performance Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor and analyze the performance of Wind or solar and energy storage systems using SCADA and other data analytics tools. Identify performance trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement through data analysis and reporting. Develop and maintain performance dashboards and reports for stakeholders. Monitor and analyze real-time operational data from utility-scale wind / solar plants to identify performance issues and optimization opportunities. Develop and implement methodologies to accurately categorize and quantify production losses, with particular emphasis on fault category, loss factor, curtailment event classification. Track, analyze, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) including availability metrics, capacity factors, and energy yield ratios. Collaborate with software development teams to enhance operational analytics capabilities and performance monitoring systems. Optimization and Improvement: Collaborate with engineering and operational teams to implement performance optimization strategies. Conduct root cause analysis of performance issues and recommend corrective actions. Propose upgrades or modifications to system components to enhance overall efficiency. Data Management and Reporting: Collect, validate, and manage performance data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and reliability. Generate periodic performance reports for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends. Utilize data analytics to develop insights and recommendations for performance enhancement. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with project management, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless execution of performance-related initiatives. Participate in cross-functional meetings to share insights and collaborate on performance-related challenges and solutions. Provide training and support to operational staff on performance monitoring tools and methodologies. Background and Experience: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field. Proven experience (3-5 years) in performance engineering or analysis within the renewable energy sector, preferably in Wind or Solar and energy storage. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R, Excel) Strong understanding of solar plant operations, PPA structures, and performance metrics (PR, availability, capacity factor) Experience collaborating with O&M providers to ensure contractual performance obligations are met
