Designer – Substation Design/Drafter Location: India | Remote Schedule: Full-Time Kickstart your CAD design career in the power and energy industry with a hands-on, collaborative role. EVS is seeking a Designer / Drafter to join our growing substation design team. This experience role is perfect for individuals ready to transition from processing drawing markups to creating their own CAD-based designs. If you’re detail-oriented, eager to learn, and excited to grow in a supportive, fast-paced environment—this is the opportunity for you. You’ll work alongside experienced drafters and engineers to develop accurate design drawings while mastering industry tools, company standards, and the fundamentals of substation systems. What You’ll Do Use AutoCAD or similar CAD tools to develop moderately complex substation design drawings with minimal oversight Apply company drafting standards and processes to complete assigned tasks Check your own work for accuracy and adherence to quality procedures Participate in improvement initiatives to increase design quality and efficiency Collaborate with drafters, engineers, and other team members to support project development Assist in resolving design challenges through research and basic problem-solving Support document tracking and contribute to documentation as needed Maintain attention to detail while managing time and meeting deadlines What You Bring Associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Design or a related field (or equivalent experience) Foundational experience with AutoCAD (or similar drafting software) Basic understanding of design principles and electrical substation components (preferred) Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new concepts quickly Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid team environment Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) Growth Path You’ll begin by learning the terminology of the trade, collaborating with senior designers, and gaining confidence in substation design creation. As your skills develop, you’ll progress to more advanced design responsibilities, anticipate project needs, and grow into more technical roles in drafting or engineering support.
