Job Title: Head - Land & Acquisition (Wind Energy) Experience: 8 - 12 Years Location: Theni Department: Project Development / Land Acquisition Industry: Renewable Energy (Wind Power) Job Summary : The Head Land & Acquisition will lead end-to-end land identification, acquisition, due diligence, and stakeholder management for wind energy projects. The role requires strong understanding of land laws, state revenue processes, and relationships with local authorities and landowners. The candidate will ensure timely land acquisition to support project development and execution. Key Responsibilities : 1. Land Identification & Evaluation Identify suitable land parcels for wind project development based on wind data, accessibility, grid proximity, and environmental conditions. Conduct feasibility assessments, site surveys, and coordinate with wind resource teams for micro-siting. 2. Land Acquisition & Negotiation Lead negotiations with landowners, local stakeholders, and aggregators to secure private and government land. Structure land purchase, lease, or right-of-way agreements. Ensure competitive land pricing aligned with project budgets. 3. Legal & Regulatory Due Diligence Oversee title verification, encumbrance checks, and compliance with state land rules and renewable energy policies. Liaise with legal teams to draft and vet land documents, sale deeds, lease deeds, and MoUs. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, forest clearance (if applicable), and land conversion norms. 4. Stakeholder & Government Liaison Build and maintain strong relationships with district administration, revenue departments, and state nodal agencies. Facilitate timely approvals including mutation, land conversion, and registration. Manage community relations and ensure smooth project execution on ground. 5. Project Coordination Work closely with internal teams: wind resource, engineering, project execution, and EHS. Provide weekly and monthly progress reports to senior management. Resolve land-related risks, disputes, or encroachments. 6. Team Leadership Manage and mentor a team of field officers, surveyors, and acquisition specialists. Drive performance, ensure documentation accuracy, and uphold compliance standards. Key Skills & Competencies : Strong understanding of land revenue processes, local land laws, and state regulations (especially for renewable energy). Excellent negotiation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to work with government officials, local communities, and external stakeholders. Proficiency in reading land records, FMB/712 extracts, GIS mapping, and cadastral maps. Strong project management, reporting, and documentation abilities. Experience in wind or solar industry preferred. Qualifications : Bachelors degree in Law, Civil Engineering, Land Management, Rural Development, or related fields. MBA or Master's degree is an added advantage. 8 - 12 years of relevant experience in land acquisition, preferably in renewable energy or large-scale infrastructure.
