Engineering Manager-Backend

As an Engineering Manager at Tekion in Bangalore, you will play a crucial role in leading the backend or full-stack engineering team. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the development of APIs and services that power our backend experiences across web platforms and front-end web development. In addition to demonstrating technical expertise by providing leadership on major projects, you will be tasked with building and managing a team of 10-15 top-notch engineers. Your role will involve not only optimizing your own code but also ensuring that other engineers can optimize theirs. You will be responsible for managing business goals, contributing to product strategy, and fostering the growth of your team members by creating clear career paths and providing regular and in-depth mentoring. Performance evaluations, feedback sharing, and guiding the team through a rapidly evolving environment will be part of your routine. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with Product Management, Business Development, and Operations teams to deliver scalable and high-quality technology solutions at a rapid pace. You will be expected to establish best practices for development, champion their adoption, and architect and design technically robust, flexible, and scalable solutions. Agile project estimation and planning in collaboration with designers, business analysts, and product managers will be essential skills to possess. To excel in this role, you should have over 12 years of technology experience with a strong foundation in people management. At least 5 years of experience as an engineering manager or tech lead is required, along with a BE/BTech in Computer Science or equivalent. Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redis Cache, and JavaScript (React.js/Redux.js) is expected. Your leadership skills, coupled with a deep understanding of highly scalable and available architectures, will be instrumental in guiding the team towards success. Your ability to navigate uncertainties, collaborate across teams, and deliver high-quality projects on time will set you apart. You should be adept at establishing credibility with engineers quickly, providing long-term vision, and motivation to drive projects forward successfully.,
