Description
Role & responsibilities Lead and manage CAD design projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and project managers, to gather project requirements and translate them into detailed CAD designs. Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create 2D and 3D models, assemblies, and drawings according to project specifications. Conduct design reviews to assess CAD models' feasibility, functionality, and manufacturability, making necessary revisions and improvements. Generate technical documentation, including engineering drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and design specifications. Perform tolerance analysis and validation simulations to verify design integrity and performance. Stay updated with industry trends, advancements in CAD technology, and best practices to continuously improve design processes and methodologies. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior CAD designers, fostering their professional growth and development. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to evaluate components and materials for design compatibility and suitability. Participate in cross-functional meetings and discussions to provide design insights, recommendations, and solutions. Preferred candidate profile Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field. Masters degree preferred. Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in CAD design, preferably in off-road equipment. Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar. Strong understanding of engineering principles, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and design for manufacturability (DFM). Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and simulation tools is desirable. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex technical challenges and propose effective solutions. Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality in all deliverables.
