Engineer I - Propulsion (HAPS)

You will be involved in the development of next generation missions and technologies (NGM&T) for the Indian defence forces, specifically focusing on enhancing persistence and autonomy for unmanned vehicles and robotic swarms. Your role will include activities related to the propulsion system design and development of UAVs. This will involve tasks such as initial sizing calculations, evaluation of aerodynamic characteristics, CAD modeling using Solidworks/CATIA, sizing and selection of propulsion systems, experimental test setup readiness, data acquisition, and post-processing. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing propulsion sizing and performance evaluation code using Python/MATLAB and preparing technical documents to support design, analysis, and tests. Key Responsibilities: - Accomplish and support activities involving the propulsion system design and development of UAVs. - Perform initial sizing calculations of the propulsion system based on operational requirements and evaluate propeller aerodynamic characteristics. - Create CAD models using Solidworks/CATIA for propulsion-related tasks. - Size and select the optimum propulsion system for fixed-wing and VTOL platforms. - Ensure experimental test setup readiness, assist with data acquisition, and post-processing. - Develop propulsion sizing and performance evaluation code using Python/MATLAB for UAV design and development. - Prepare technical documents supporting design, analysis, and tests. Qualifications Required: - Strong background in Aerodynamics and Aircraft Design. - Experience with Propulsion systems (Electric motor/IC engine). - Proficiency in CAD tools such as Solidworks and CATIA. - Familiarity with low fidelity tools like QMIL/QPROP, XROTOR. - Ability to script using Python and Matlab. You should hold an M.E./M.Tech degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering and have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the field.,
