Job Description

Role & responsibilities Work on new PCB designs, create schematic, Design, develop, and optimize hardware for edge gateways , focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability. Should have sound electronics knowledge to perform necessary calculations related to capacity of electronic components, heat dissipation, EMI/EMC etc to create a robust PCB. Develop and validate hardware systems including processor boards, communication interfaces, and power management systems for edge devices. Collaborate with firmware engineers to ensure smooth interaction between hardware and software components. Create detailed hardware design documentation, including circuit diagrams, PCB layouts, and specifications for edge gateway devices. Design hardware for multi-protocol communication (e.g., Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, LoRa, 5G) used in edge computing systems. Lead and support the testing and debugging of hardware components in an edge environment, using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other diagnostic tools. Focus on low-power design for edge devices, ensuring optimized power consumption for battery-operated and energy-efficient applications. Work on hardware validation and testing for real-time data processing and secure communication in industrial IoT environments. Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., CE, FCC) and implement best practices for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and safety. Support the integration of sensor interfaces, gateways, and connectivity solutions for edge applications. Collaborate with the software team to ensure smooth integration of hardware and software for real-time data collection, processing, and communication. Required Skills & Qualifications: A Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field. At least 4 years of experience in embedded hardware design with a strong focus on edge gateways and IoT solutions. In-depth knowledge of embedded systems hardware design, including processors, memory, power management, and communication interfaces. Experience designing multi-protocol communication systems (e.g., Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, LoRa, 5G) for edge devices . Familiarity with embedded platforms like ARM-based microcontrollers, FPGAs, or System on Chips (SoCs) used in gateway systems. Expertise in power-efficient hardware design, particularly for battery-operated edge devices . Strong proficiency in hardware design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Eagle, KiCad) for schematic capture, PCB layout, and signal integrity analysis. Hands-on experience with embedded hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters. Solid understanding of hardware security protocols and experience with securing edge devices. Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and how they integrate with embedded hardware. Experience with hardware interfaces for sensors, actuators, and industrial protocols like Modbus, CAN, or RS-485. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to document and explain technical designs and concepts. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have): Experience in designing edge gateways with integrated AI/ML processing capabilities . Familiarity with edge computing platforms and frameworks. Experience with high-speed signal design, high-throughput communication protocols, and low-latency systems. Knowledge of cloud-to-edge communication systems and integration with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards such as UL, CE, or FCC. Experience working in agile development environments, contributing to iterative hardware and software development cycles. Salary is no bar for exceptional candidates who have demonstrated experience in the above aspects.
