Electronic Systems Product Specialist

Job Summary:

The Senior Electronics/Mechatronics Engineer is a key role in tailoring electronic and electrical systems for Cummins products. The engineer will translate product requirements into hardware and software technical specifications that control Cummins products across various customer applications. This role includes responsibility for system configuration (tuning), comprehensive validation testing, and ensuring the performance and quality of fully integrated hardware and software systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investigate and resolve electronic application and system issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions with guidance from senior team members.
• Apply and refine electronic application and system development processes, including system specification, modeling, simulation, calibration, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate customer feedback, product teams, and suppliers into product development decisions.
• Lead the design and optimization of electronic systems, ensuring they meet product quality and performance standards.
• Review and guide less-experienced engineers/testers to ensure the design is efficient, robust, and reusable.
• Lead smaller projects or components with increased levels of ambiguity, managing all technical aspects to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Support the development of new product systems, including base engine and sensor selection, controller selection, and communication protocols.
• Perform software and calibration bench testing, including supporting failure analysis, iDFMEA, Cyber Security (ISO21434) assessments, and Functional Safety (ISO26262) evaluations.
• Tune and integrate engine calibration, working cross-functionally to implement open and closed loop control tuning for engine performance features.
• Provide guidance to design teams on wiring harness development as per engine architecture and ECM IO matrix.
• Offer test cell and occasional field support for engine development, calibration, and diagnosis.
