Role & responsibilities: Receive and interpret job briefs from British clients and update them on progress/issues via email or virtual meetings . Communicate project details clearly to the internal team. Raise and resolve client queries professionally and promptly. Allocate tasks to team members based on workload and skill set. Provide technical and process-related guidance to the team. Track progress of each project and ensure timely execution. Share daily/weekly progress reports with the Project Manager. Maintain and update project tracking sheets in Excel. Ensure schedule fidelity and proactively flag potential delays. Coordinate with QA/QC resources to ensure quality standards are met. Guide the team on typesetting standards, templates, and client-specific instructions. Review and verify files for formatting and copyediting adherence. Implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy. Ensure typeset files adhere to accessibility standards (WCAG, PDF/EPUB Accessibility) where applicable. Required Skills & Competencies: Exceptional command of English, with strong proficiency in verbal, written, reading, and listening skills In-depth understanding of British English copyediting standards and proofreading practices Hands-on experience with book typesetting workflows, including InDesign and XML/Word-based processes Basic familiarity with eBook formats such as ePub and MOBI Proficient in MS Excel for task tracking, reporting, and schedule management Hands-on knowledge of project management and collaboration tools such as Trello, JIRA, Asana, or equivalent platforms Understanding of digital production workflows, including DAM systems, file transfer protocols, and version control practices Strong project and process management skills, with the ability to monitor schedules and ensure timely delivery Proven ability to lead, support, and motivate a team in high-pressure environments Meticulous attention to detail, with a solid grounding in editorial and copyediting standards Ability to accurately interpret and apply editorial comments, style guides, and markup instructions within typeset files Prior experience working with UK-based publishing clients, with an understanding of their communication and quality expectations Education & Experience: Minimum Qualification: Bachelors degree in English. Experience: 46 years in editorial production, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role
