Job Purpose:To perform skilled carpentry tasks involving maintenance, repair, fabrication, and installation of wooden and modular furniture and fixtures across the campus, ensuring functionality, safety, and a professional environment conducive to academic activities. Key Responsibilities:Routine Maintenance: Inspect and maintain classroom desks, tables, chairs, podiums, cabinets, and shelving units across the university. Conduct periodic checks of doors, windows, and frames to ensure proper alignment and functionality. Perform adjustments and minor repairs to door locks, stoppers, handles, hydraulic door closers, etc. Repair & Installation: Repair broken furniture, damaged fixtures, and wooden paneling. Install new locks, hinges, boards, partitions, and classroom utilities as required. Support in assembling new furniture and dismantling or repositioning items during office or classroom reconfigurations. Preventive Maintenance: Conduct preventive inspections of high-use furniture and fixtures to reduce breakdowns. Check and repair loose joints, cracked panels, and splinters to ensure safety. Fabrication & Minor Civil Support: Fabricate small wooden structures such as notice boards, pin-up boards, storage units, and minor partitions. Coordinate with civil and electrical teams when carpentry works require integrated effort (e.g., during renovations or fit-outs). Compliance & Reporting: Maintain tools and materials inventory and report usage. Follow work schedules and task lists as per SOP. Update daily task sheets and report completion to the Supervisor. Skills and Qualifications:ITI certification or equivalent diploma in Carpentry/Woodwork. Minimum 3 years of experience in institutional, commercial, or residential carpentry services. Ability to read basic layout drawings and measure precisely. Skilled in using hand tools and power tools with safety. Basic understanding of fire safety and safe material handling practices. Work Schedule:6-day work week; timings as per campus shift allocation. Availability for emergency breakdowns or event-related carpentry requirements. Additional Expectations:Maintain neat appearance and professional behavior while on campus. Wear proper uniform and carry ID card. Ensure all work areas are cleaned post-completion. Cooperate with other facility and support teams during joint tasks.
