Job Description: Business Development Analyst Location: Hyderabad • Schedule: Must overlap with U.S. hours daily (work until 12:00pm ET) • Team: Business Development • Firm: Middle-Market Private Equity Firm Overview We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Business Development Analyst to support the firm’s sourcing, origination, and early-stage investment evaluation efforts. This role works closely with the U.S.-based Business Development team to conduct market research, build proprietary target lists, map industry executives, track M&A activity, enhance templates, and support the firm’s Executive Partnership Program (EPP). The ideal candidate will have 5–7 years of relevant M&A, investment research, or corporate finance experience (minimum of 3 years required) and a demonstrated ability to produce polished, data-driven materials in a fast-paced environment. This individual will play a critical role in improving Business Development efficiency, strengthening thesis development, and supporting the firm’s platform-building strategy. Key Responsibilities Industry & Market Research Develop detailed market research reports using the firm’s PowerPoint templates. Analyze industry structure, competitive dynamics, market trends, growth drivers, and sector-level KPIs. Identify high-potential subsectors aligned with the firm’s investment themes. Target Identification & Sourcing Support Build comprehensive proprietary target lists, including company details, size, ownership, and contact information. Support outbound sourcing campaigns and thesis-driven origination initiatives. Identify industry executives, advisors, consultants, and operating partners to support diligence and thesis work. Create executive profiles summarizing background, expertise, and contact details. Contribute to the expansion and organization of the firm’s Executive Partnership Program (EPP). M&A Transactions & Banker Mapping Track, analyze, and summarize M&A transactions across targeted sectors. Build and maintain a database of sector-specific investment banks, brokers, and M&A advisors, including deal history, sector focus, and key contacts. One-Pagers on New Investment Opportunities Prepare concise, insightful one-page investment summaries using CIMs, teasers, company websites, and industry research. Own continual improvement of the one-pager template—enhancing structure, visuals, clarity, and analytical usefulness. Include company overview, product/service descriptions, available financials, market context, thesis angles, and key risks. Template Improvement & Standardization Take ownership of revamping and standardizing deliverables, including investment one-pagers and related templates. Ensure all materials align with firm branding and best practices. Identify process efficiencies to increase consistency, clarity, and speed across BD workflows. Fundraising Support Prepare high-quality PowerPoint presentations for fundraising meetings and investor communications. Ad-Hoc BD & Investment Support Support preliminary thesis development, subsector deep-dives, and opportunity screening. Produce slides, tables, and summaries for updates, partner meetings, and off-site sessions. Execute special projects for senior leadership and the investment team. Administrative & Coordination Support Provide calendar and email management assistance. Coordinate travel, meetings, and logistics. Support office and project administration as needed. Qualifications Required Minimum 3 years of experience in M&A, investment banking, private equity research, consulting, or corporate development. Strong understanding of M&A concepts, financial analysis, market dynamics, and competitive mapping. High proficiency in PowerPoint and ability to generate polished, firm-ready materials. Strong Excel skills, including comfort with revenue/EBITDA bridges, valuation concepts, and basic modeling. Excellent research capabilities using market databases, public filings, and industry sources. Strong written English communication skills. Ability to overlap with U.S. hours (work until 12:00pm ET). Proven ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines with high accuracy. Preferred 5–7 years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or consulting.
