Position Overview : We are seeking an experienced QA Lead who is proficient in manual testing but looking to transition into automated testing . If you have strong manual testing experience and are eager to learn and grow in test automation , particularly with Playwright or Cypress , this is the perfect opportunity for you. As the QA Lead, you will be responsible for leading the testing efforts, gradually adopting automated testing practices, and helping the team move from manual to automated testing. This role requires someone passionate about quality and automation, with a willingness to mentor and guide other team members through the transition process. Key Responsibilities : Lead the QA team in both manual testing and the gradual transition to automated testing using tools like Playwright or Cypress . Actively mentor and guide team members in learning test automation practices, while also maintaining strong manual testing practices. Design and implement test automation frameworks with Playwright or Cypress to cover regression, smoke, and functional tests. Create and maintain manual test cases and execute tests while also transitioning suitable tests to automated scripts. Conduct thorough testing across multiple browsers, devices, and environments to ensure product quality and functionality. Collaborate with the development team to ensure the automation efforts align with CI/CD pipelines and integration requirements. Take responsibility for the automation strategy , prioritizing areas of manual testing to automate based on business needs and product complexity. Define and drive best practices in test automation, ensuring test scripts are efficient, scalable, and reusable. Continuously improve the testing process by integrating feedback loops and helping the team evolve their automation knowledge and skill set. Review user stories, requirements, and technical documentation to ensure automation readiness and completeness. Lead and participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives), ensuring that the QA team is aligned with development goals. Report and track progress of automation and manual testing efforts, ensuring timely defect identification and resolution. Measure and communicate the impact of test automation on the team's testing efficiency and overall product quality. Required Skills & Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of manual testing experience, including strong knowledge of test planning , test case creation , and defect management . Experience with test management tools like Jira , TestRail , or similar. A strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies . Passion for learning test automation and a willingness to take on new challenges in the automation space. Familiarity with JavaScript , TypeScript , or another scripting language is preferred for automation. Familiarity with Playwright or Cypress is a plus, but we are also open to candidates willing to learn these tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and leadership skills to work with cross-functional teams and mentor junior testers. Ability to prioritize and manage tasks in a fast-paced, Agile environment. Desired Skills : Prior experience transitioning from manual testing to test automation and understanding the challenges and best practices involved. Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) and integrating automated tests . Knowledge of BDD (Behavior-Driven Development) frameworks (e.g., Cucumber, SpecFlow) is a plus. Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) is a bonus. Familiarity with mobile testing using tools like Appium or BrowserStack . Knowledge of API testing using tools like Postman or REST Assured . Experience with version control tools like Git .
