Role & responsibilities A Senior Manager, Fashion Planner Merchandiser, is a leadership role focused on developing and executing merchandising strategies to maximize sales and profitability in the fashion industry . This role involves overseeing all aspects of the product lifecycle, from initial planning and trend analysis to product selection, buying, inventory management, and performance analysis. The Senior Manager will also lead and mentor a team, collaborate with various departments, and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers. Key Responsibilities: Merchandising Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive merchandising strategies aligned with brand objectives and target market needs. Trend Analysis & Forecasting: Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities and inform product selection and pricing. Assortment Planning & Buying: Curate diverse product selections for different channels, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and consumer preferences. Inventory Management: Optimize inventory levels, manage stock flow, and minimize markdowns through effective sales analysis and forecasting. Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, negotiate favorable terms, and ensure timely delivery of quality products. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with design, sourcing, production, marketing, and sales teams to ensure seamless execution of merchandising strategies. Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of merchandisers, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth. Performance Analysis & Reporting: Track key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze sales data, and generate reports to identify areas for improvement and inform future strategies. Budget Management: Manage budgets related to inventory, markdowns, and other merchandising expenses. Market Research: Stay informed about current market trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies in the fashion industry. Skills & Qualifications: Strong leadership and management skills: Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team. Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including team members, vendors, and other departments. Strong understanding of fashion and retail industries: Knowledge of current trends, consumer behavior, and product development processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools: Ability to utilize data to inform decision-making. Financial acumen: Understanding of budgeting, inventory management, and profitability analysis. Degree in fashion merchandising, marketing, or a related field: (Master's degree preferred). Experience in fashion buying, merchandising, and/or planning: 8-12 years of experience is often required.
