Director of Engineering Backend

Job Description: A dynamic SaaS product company in Bengaluru is seeking a dedicated Director of Engineering to spearhead the development of highly scalable, distributed backend systems. As a seasoned leader with 12-16 years of experience, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation, scaling teams, and ensuring the delivery of high-performance, fault-tolerant platforms. Your expertise in Java, microservices, high-concurrency systems, and cloud-native architectures will be instrumental in shaping the engineering roadmap and fostering a culture of technical excellence. Responsibilities: - Develop and implement the engineering roadmap to enhance scalability, reliability, and high availability. - Design and optimize high-scale distributed systems for real-time processing and low-latency operations. - Lead the adoption of microservices and event-driven architectures to support business growth and innovation. - Advocate for best practices in DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and automation to streamline processes and enhance efficiency. - Oversee and mentor a diverse team of 50+ engineers, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and ownership. - Collaborate closely with product, business, and leadership teams to align technological advancements with organizational objectives. Ideal Candidate: - 12-16 years of experience in scaling engineering teams within high-growth product companies, with a preference for eCommerce background. - Proven expertise in building distributed systems, microservices, and high-scale architectures. - Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Distributed Systems, and High-Concurrency Architectures. - Extensive hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch. - Strong leadership skills demonstrated in scaling teams from 10 to over 100 engineers. - Ability to tackle complex system design challenges and drive technical excellence across the organization.
