Job Description

Digital Design Fundamentals for Computer Science to be delivered at a University Campus in Gurugram.

Course Type: Practical / Studio / Activity-Based
Prerequisites: None
Primary Tools: Figma + FigJam + Maze (Usability Testing) + ONE AI Tool (Perplexity or Figma AI)

Course Purpose

To develop design thinkers who can:

  • Identify real user problems,
  • Convert research findings into design decisions,
  • Build intuitive digital interfaces using Figma,
  • Test with users & iterate for improvement,
  • Communicate designs effectively with developers.

UNIT–WISE SYLLABUS (4 Units)

UNIT 1: Design Thinking & UX Foundations

Hours: 7–8

Topics

  • UI vs. UX and design for logic
  • Double Diamond model: Discover → Define → Develop → Deliver
  • Quick User Research (interviews/surveys/observation)
  • Persona & basic task flow creation
  • FigJam for ideation & mapping
  • Figma Basics: frames, layers, constraints
  • Low-fidelity wireframes (5–6 screens)

Hands-On

  • Interview task + persona mapping
  • Paper → Figma wireframe conversion

Mini Output 1:
Problem statement + persona + task flow + grayscale wireframes

UNIT 2: UI Principles & Responsive Layouts in Figma

Hours: 7–8

Topics

  • Visual hierarchy + 8pt spacing system
  • Typography basics (font pairing, type scale)
  • Color basics + contrast accessibility
  • Auto-layout for responsive elements
  • Components: buttons, cards, input fields

Hands-On

  • “Bad UI Fix” workshop
  • Auto-layout responsive page (desktop + mobile key screen)

Mini Output 2:
Style basics applied to initial screens (updated wireframes → UI)

UNIT 3: High-Fidelity Design, Components & Interactions

Hours: 8–9

Topics

  • Converting wireframes → polished UI
  • Component variants: hover, active, disabled
  • Smart Animate + interaction logic
  • Mobile-first design adjustments
  • Basic accessibility checks (touch target, contrast)

Hands-On

  • Build a small component library
  • Prototype interactions for 1–2 flows

Integrated into Final Project

UNIT 4: Usability Testing, Iteration & Developer Handoff

Hours: 8–9

Topics

  • Usability testing basics: task-based validation
  • Maze tool → heatmaps + success score
  • Fixing usability issues (3–5 major)
  • Developer handoff basics:
  • Dev Mode → spacing, specs, assets
  • Presentation of design decisions

Hands-On

  • Maze testing + iteration improvements
  • Preparing developer-ready file

Final Capstone Submission:✔ Complete UI prototype (desktop + mobile key screens)
