Dietary Aide

Role Overview: As a Dietary Aide at our Residence/Home, you will provide support in the set up, preparation, serving, and clean up associated with all meal services. You will report to the Director of Culinary Services/the Dietary Manager and play a crucial role in ensuring a pleasant dining experience for our residents and guests. Key Responsibilities: - Serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner - Assist in the set up and preparation for service of various items such as beverages, salads, desserts, etc. - Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required - Assist with cleaning of dishware and cutlery at the conclusion of each seating - Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining area - Assist with catering and actively participate in special occasions and theme events - Orient and train new dietary employees - Follow health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures - Comply with all provincial regulations and established department policies and procedures - Respect and promote Resident Rights & Responsibilities - Attend in-service training and staff meetings as required - Participate in the Quality Improvement Program - Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents) - Uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy - Complete other duties as assigned Qualifications: - Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate - Preference given to individuals with previous experience in the food service industry and working with seniors - Must possess or be enrolled in Food Service Worker Training Program - Demonstrates excellent customer service skills - Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for majority of shift - Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset - Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one If you choose to build your career with Extendicare, you will be part of a team dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our residents.
