About the job: Key responsibilities: 1. Design, provision and operate production workloads on Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud SQL, VPC, Cloud DNS, Cloud Load Balancing, Pub/Sub, Cloud KMS 2. Apply cost-optimisation and high-availability patterns 3. Implement least-privilege IAM across projects and service accounts 4. Build and maintain reusable Terraform modules including remote state, workspaces and module versioning 5. Automate host and application configuration with Ansible; familiarity with Chef or Puppet is a plus 6. Create end-to-end pipelines from scratch using Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins or GitHub Actions 7. Integrate unit and integration tests, SAST/DAST, container-image scanning tools like Trivy or Anchore, image signing, approval gates and environment promotion 8. Containerise applications with Docker and write secure, efficient images 9. Manage the full GKE lifecycle including Secrets, ConfigMaps, Ingress, HPA/VPA and node-pool tuning 10. Package releases using Helm or Kustomize 11. Implement GitOps workflows with Argo CD or Flux (bonus) 12. Deploy Prometheus with Grafana or use Cloud Monitoring to build actionable dashboards and alerts for latency, errors and saturation 13. Implement structured logging and distributed tracing using Cloud Logging/Trace or OpenTelemetry 14. Configure error-tracking with Sentry or an equivalent tool 15. Administer Ubuntu or RHEL systems including hardening, patching, systemd, kernel and GRUB tuning 16. Write and debug custom Nginx or Apache configurations including TLS termination and reverse proxying 17. Design VPCs, subnets, firewalls, VPN or Interconnect and DNS records 18. Enforce RBAC using IAM and manage service-account keys and Workload Identity 19. Implement secret management, encryption in transit and at rest, container-image scanning and policy-as-code Requirements: 1. Demonstrate a root-cause mindset by staying calm and systematic during incidents and rigorous in post-mortems 2. Communicate clearly by producing run-books, diagrams and concise technical write-ups 3. Embrace an automation-first approach to eliminate toil through scripts, tests and pipelines 4.
