Developer Relations Engineer, Google Maps Platform

As a Developer Relations Engineer at Google, you will play a crucial role in collaborating and connecting with technology enthusiasts in the community. Your responsibilities will include: - Engaging with the developer community through meetups, conferences, videos, and online forums to inspire developers and drive adoption of the Google Maps Platform. - Creating and launching technical content, including open-source sample applications, tutorials, and best practices. Developing localized solutions that address regional developer needs. - Supporting global product launches by developing the technical Bill of Materials (BOM), providing early technical feedback on APIs/SDKs, and ensuring readiness for the developer community. - Advocating for the needs of the developer community by gathering qualitative and quantitative feedback, and working closely with Product Management and Engineering teams to influence product direction. - Developing expertise in the Google Maps Platform APIs and related Google Cloud technologies, identifying opportunities for growth and innovation. Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. - 3 years of experience in professional software development, with expertise in programming languages such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Kotlin, Swift, Python, or Java. - Experience engaging with technical audiences through documentation, tutorials, presentations, videos, or open-source contributions. Preferred qualifications: - Experience working with Google Maps Platform APIs or other geospatial/mapping technologies. - Experience leading or actively contributing to a developer community or an open-source project. - Experience in Mobile application development (e.g., Android/Kotlin or iOS/Swift). - Experience in creating technical content or delivering talks at technical conferences. - Ability to synthesize developer feedback and advocate for product improvements with cross-functional teams.
