Design Engineer

Role type: Design desk (office-based). This is not a site or installation position.
Experience:

• Senior Design Engineer – HVAC, Fire, Plumbing: 7-10 years
• Design Engineer – Electrical: 4-6 years (4-5 LPA)

About the role
We are hiring design engineers in four disciplines. They will own the calculations, schematics and drawings for their discipline, which are reviewed for code compliance before anything reaches site.

Common responsibilities (all disciplines)

• Develop system designs to project requirements and applicable codes.
• Prepare load estimates, design basis, equipment selection and detailed drawings.
• Space-plan equipment rooms and risers for clash-free coordination with architecture, structure and other MEP services.
• Coordinate with consultants, clients and internal teams to resolve design issues.
• Review drawings for technical accuracy, quality and compliance at every design stage.

Discipline-wise scope

HVAC : Heat load calculation (HAP/Excel), chiller plant and AHU room planning, duct sizing, chilled-water piping, DX/VRF refrigerant piping, toilet exhaust and car-park ventilation

Codes : NBC, ASHRAE, ISHRAE

Fire : Wet riser/down-comer and yard hydrant systems, automatic sprinkler design, smoke detection and fire alarm, gas-based suppression, voice evacuation PA, travel-distance checks and pipe sizing.

Codes: NBC, NFPA, FM, UL

Plumbing (PHE) : Water supply and distribution, sanitary drainage and storm water, RO plant and pumps, centralized hot water (solar/heat pump), water and sewage treatment plants, UG sump/OHT with puddle flange

Codes: NBC, SP 35, UPC

Electrical : Power distribution and load estimation, lighting layouts and lux-level calculations, cable sizing and voltage drop, single-line diagrams and panel GA, telephone/network/CCTV layouts

Codes: NBC, IEC, CEIG

Software

• AutoCAD: mandatory for all four disciplines
• Revit MEP: added advantage (HVAC, Plumbing)
• BIM: added advantage (Electrical)

Qualification (suggested, not on the posters): B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical (HVAC, Fire, Plumbing) or Electrical/EEE (Electrical)

Who should apply
Engineers who have personally done the calculations for their discipline (heat load, hydraulic, pipe sizing, or load/lux/voltage-drop). Site, installation, commissioning and maintenance profiles are not a fit.

Preferred: candidates based in Tamil Nadu (stated for Electrical).
