Database Administrator

As a Database Infrastructure Engineer at our company, you will be responsible for designing and operating scalable, secure, and automated MySQL and PostgreSQL infrastructure on AWS. Your key responsibilities will include: - Championing a culture of automation over manual intervention by implementing Infrastructure-as-Code and scripting to reduce repetitive tasks. - Proactively identifying areas of operational toil and implementing automated solutions to improve efficiency and increase engineering velocity. - Leading performance tuning at all levels including queries, schema, indexes, and underlying systems to ensure low-latency, high-throughput access patterns. - Owning the lifecycle and execution of major MySQL and PostgreSQL version upgrades, including planning, backward compatibility, rollback readiness, and automation of upgrade workflows. - Architecting and managing scale-out strategies using replication, sharding, or middleware to support database scalability. - Implementing efficient partitioning and data archival strategies to support long-term data retention, cost management, and compliance. - Ensuring alignment with security and compliance standards such as SOC 2, PCI DSS, and ISO 27001 by implementing encryption, role-based access, auditing, and data classification controls. - Building observability into the database stack for real-time health insights and proactive alerting. - Supporting high-severity incident response, conducting RCA/postmortems, and leading improvements to prevent recurrence. - Mentoring engineers across teams, setting technical standards for DB schema architecture and operations, and advocating for reliability best practices. - Collaborating with multiple teams to optimize and fine-tune queries, DB access patterns, and existing DB system infrastructure. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our database infrastructure, while also contributing to the continuous improvement and optimization of our database systems.,
