Data Platform Architect

As the Founding Principal ML Engineer/ML Scientist at a venture-backed, stealth-stage technology company focusing on next-gen matchmaking and relationship platforms, your role is crucial in designing and deploying core recommendation and personalization systems for the matchmaking experience. You will be responsible for owning and developing matchmaking, recommendation, ranking, and personalization systems. Your key responsibilities include: - Own and develop match-making, recommendation, ranking, and personalization systems. - Create a real-time adaptive matchmaking engine that learns from user interactions and signals. - Design ranking and recommendation algorithms to curate each user's feed. - Build user embedding systems, similarity models, and graph-based match scoring frameworks. - Explore and integrate cold-start solutions. - Collaborate with Data, Product, and Backend teams to enhance customer experiences. - Deploy models to production using fast iteration loops and observability tooling. - Establish and nurture the ML engineering team and culture. To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications: - Full-stack ML data scientist-engineer with experience in designing, modeling, and deploying recommendation systems. - 3-10 years of experience in personalization, recommendations, search, or ranking at scale. - Previous exposure to B2C products such as social, ecommerce, fashion, dating, gaming, or video platforms. - Familiarity with various recommendation and personalization techniques like collaborative filtering, deep retrieval models, learning-to-rank, and embeddings with ANN search. - Proficiency in training models and deploying them through end-to-end ML pipelines. - Understanding of offline and online evaluation, A/B testing, and metric alignment. - Experience in vector search, graph-based algorithms, and LLM-based approaches is advantageous.
