Data Pipeline Support Engineer

As a Data Pipeline Engineer at Health Catalyst, your role will involve providing 24x7 ETL support for clients. You will be part of an on-call rotation outside US business hours to monitor ETL jobs, troubleshoot and resolve failures, and prevent future issues proactively. Key Responsibilities: - Monitor and resolve ETL job failures by utilizing Health Catalyst and client-provided documentation. Train team members for effective task performance. - Develop expertise in Health Catalyst's Data Operating System, configure queries, and schedule/execute Data Pipeline jobs. - Diagnose performance issues in Azure and SQL Server environments, and provide optimization strategies. - Maintain consistent communication with colleagues and clients regarding critical ETL-related concerns. - Manage and resolve support tickets related to ETL failures, ensuring timely updates and resolutions. - Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for ETL failures and assist with long-running ETL jobs. Qualification Requirements: - Proficiency in SQL with strong query development and optimization skills. - Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving abilities. - Skilled in database monitoring, diagnostics, and performance tuning. - Hands-on experience with the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process. - Proficiency in tuning Azure and SQL Server queries, including interpreting execution plans. - In-depth knowledge of SQL Server indexing strategies, including clustered, non-clustered, and column store indexes.
