Data Engineer with Scala

Role Overview: As a Data Engineering specialist in the Guidewire Data and Analytics team, you will be responsible for delivering data engineering solutions for customers who are adopting the Guidewire Data Platform. Your role involves working collaboratively with teams globally and ensuring customer success on their journey to the Guidewire Cloud Platform. You will need to maintain a fun and engaging delivery process while upholding the core values of Integrity, Collegiality, and Rationality. Key Responsibilities: - Deliver data engineering solutions for customers on time and effectively. - Improve internal processes and methodology within the Guidewire data team. - Participate in the creation of new tooling to support and streamline project outcomes. - Be a proactive problem solver who prioritizes customer success. - Adapt and excel in fast-paced Agile environments. Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional competency with over 5 years of experience in a delivery role. - Proficiency in functional programming concepts with multiple project experiences. - Minimum 3 years of experience with Scala programming language. - Minimum 2 years of experience with Apache Spark for big data processing. - Experience in performance tuning of Data Engineering frameworks for near real-time applications. - Familiarity with designing and deploying CI/CD pipelines. - Knowledge of data processing, ETL concepts, relational and/or NoSQL databases, cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, and production REST APIs. - Ability to work with customer teams to understand business objectives and functional requirements. - Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
