Cytogenetics Technologist

As a Cytogenetics Technologist/Staff Scientist in the Diagnostic Lab in Panjarapol, Ahmedabad, your role involves conducting karyotyping and chromosomal analysis, as well as supporting genetic testing through FISH techniques. With an M.Sc. degree in Cytogenetics, Genetics, Biotechnology, or related life sciences and at least 1 to 1.5 years of hands-on experience in a cytogenetics lab, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality diagnostic services. Key Responsibilities: - Perform karyotyping and chromosomal analysis on various sample types like peripheral blood, bone marrow, and amniotic fluid. - Prepare and process samples for FISH analysis, including probe hybridization and interpretation. - Analyze metaphase and interphase cells using microscopy and imaging systems. - Record findings accurately and prepare detailed cytogenetic reports under supervision. - Assist in quality control, ensuring compliance with laboratory SOPs and accreditation standards. - Maintain and calibrate cytogenetics equipment and documentation logs. - Follow biohazard safety and infection control protocols during sample handling. - Collaborate with genetic counselors, pathologists, and other lab personnel for integrated diagnostics. - Maintain strict patient confidentiality and data security as per lab and ethical guidelines. Qualifications Required: - Education: M.Sc. in Cytogenetics, Genetics, Biotechnology, or related life sciences. - Experience: Minimum 1 to 1.5 years of hands-on experience in a cytogenetics lab. - Technical Skills: Proficiency in karyotyping, chromosomal banding techniques, FISH procedures, metaphase spread preparation, cell culture, cytogenetics imaging, and analysis software.
