CTVS OT Scrub Nurse

Summary:

A Scrub Nurse in a CTVS (Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery) operating room (OT) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and success of surgeries. Their responsibilities include maintaining a sterile environment, assisting the surgical team with instruments and supplies, and providing patient care before, during, and after the procedure.

Job Description:

• Prepare and set up the operating room with sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies required for cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries.
• Ensure that all instruments and equipment are sterile and ready for use, adhering to infection control protocols.
• Maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure, providing necessary instruments and supplies to the surgeon and surgical team.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and assist with handling instruments, sutures, and other materials as required.
• Assist in patient positioning and preparation, ensuring the patient's safety and comfort during the procedure.
• Monitor patient vital signs and support the administration of anesthesia and medications in collaboration with the anesthesiologist.
• Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families before and after the surgery.
• Follow strict infection control practices to maintain a sterile environment and prevent contamination.
• Manage the disposal of contaminated materials and ensure adherence to safety procedures.

NOTE : Should have experience in cardiac OT Scrub Nurse for patient care.

• Ensure adherence to scrubbing, aseptic techniques for cardio thoracic and vascular surgery.
• Prepare and maintain sterile field in the operating room.
• Assist the surgical team by anticipating their needs during procedures.
• Efficiently manage surgical equipment, instruments and supplies.

Qualification:

• Appropriate qualification and statutory nursing registration in the state – GNM/BSC/MSC.

Skills:

Strong knowledge of sterile techniques, surgical procedures, and patient care is essential.

Additional Requirements:

These certifications will give additional preference -

certification in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or specialized certifications in CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) nursing .
