Conveyor Belt Technician (Vulcanizer)

Job Summary:

The Conveyor Belt Technician (Vulcanizer) is responsible for the installation, splicing, vulcanizing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of conveyor belts in industrial environments. The role ensures the safe and efficient operation of belt systems and supports continuous plant productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Belt Installation & Splicing

• Perform hot vulcanizing, cold vulcanizing, and mechanical splicing of conveyor belts.
• Install different types of conveyor belts (fabric, steel cord, PVC, rubber, etc.).
• Measure, cut, and prepare belt materials for jointing.

2. Maintenance & Repair

• Conduct regular inspections for wear, damage, or misalignment.
• Repair belt tears, holes, or edge damage using proper vulcanizing techniques.
• Replace pulleys, rollers, fasteners, and conveyor components as needed.

3. Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution

• Diagnose belt tracking issues, slippage, and tension problems.
• Identify root causes of belt failure and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure smooth belt operation with minimal downtime.

4. Equipment Handling

• Operate vulcanizing presses, grinders, buffing machines, cutting tools, and other related equipment.
• Maintain tools and ensure proper calibration of vulcanizing machines.

5. Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety standards and PPE requirements.
• Ensure compliance with company and industry safety regulations.
• Maintain clean work areas and follow safe work practices during high-temperature vulcanizing.

6. Documentation

• Maintain job reports, inspection sheets, and service records.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to supervisors.

Qualification & Experience:

• Diploma in mechanical engineering
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Conveyor Belt Technician / Vulcanizer.
• Strong knowledge of hot & cold vulcanizing techniques.
• Familiarity with belt types: fabric, steel cord, chevron, PVC, PU, rubber, etc.
• Ability to read technical drawings and follow procedures.
• Gulf experience preferred (added advantage).
• Physically fit for manual labor in industrial environments.

Additional Requirements:

• Willingness to work in shifts, overtime, and remote site locations

• Understanding of safety protocols in industrial environments
