Role & responsibilities

1. News Writing & Editorial Content

• Research, write and edit news articles related to exhibitions, trade shows, MICE, conferences, business events and the travel industry.
• Prepare event previews, post-event reports, industry updates and announcements.
• Verify facts, figures, dates, organiser details, venues and other relevant information before publication.
• Monitor industry developments and identify relevant news stories and editorial opportunities.
• Write clear, accurate and engaging headlines, introductions and article summaries.

2. Magazine Content & Feature Writing

• Develop editorial content for Exhibition Showcase Magazine.
• Write industry features, company profiles, leadership interviews and expert opinion pieces.
• Conduct research and prepare questionnaires for interviews with industry leaders.
• Edit interview transcripts into polished, publication-ready articles while preserving the speaker's intended meaning.
• Coordinate with the editorial team to meet monthly issue deadlines.

3. Press Releases & Corporate Communications

• Draft and edit press releases, company announcements and event-related communications.
• Convert official press releases into publication-ready news stories while maintaining factual accuracy.
• Proofread content for grammar, spelling, readability, consistency and style.
• Ensure all published content follows the organisation's editorial standards.

4. Website & Digital Content

• Write and upload content for the Exhibition Showcase website, as assigned.
• Prepare SEO-friendly headlines, meta descriptions, subheadings and relevant keywords.
• Create content for LinkedIn, Instagram, newsletters and other digital platforms in coordination with the respective teams.
• Repurpose editorial content into short-form digital formats where required.

5. Event Coverage & Industry Research

• Cover exhibitions, conferences, summits, awards and other industry events when required.
• Gather information from organisers, exhibitors, speakers and industry stakeholders.
• Prepare pre-event, on-site and post-event coverage.
• Maintain organised research notes, source records and editorial databases.

6. Editorial Coordination

• Work closely with the editorial, PR, design, video and digital teams.
• Manage multiple assignments and ensure timely delivery of content.
• Incorporate editorial feedback and maintain consistency across print and digital publications.
• Ensure all content is original, fact-checked and free from plagiarism.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, Literature or a related field.
• 0-4 years of experience in content writing, journalism, digital media or editorial work. Freshers with excellent writing and research skills may also be considered.
• Excellent written English and strong proofreading skills.
• Ability to research industry topics and convert complex information into clear, reader-friendly articles.
• Understanding of news writing, headline creation, article structuring and editorial standards.
• Basic knowledge of SEO and digital publishing.
• Strong attention to detail, time management and deadline management.
• Familiarity with exhibitions, trade shows, MICE or the events industry will be an advantage.

Preferred candidate profile

• A candidate with a journalistic mindset and a genuine interest in business news, exhibitions and the events industry.
• Someone who can independently research topics, verify information and produce accurate, well-structured articles.
• Comfortable working with press releases, conducting interviews and covering live events.
• A proactive professional who takes editorial feedback positively and can manage multiple assignments.
• Candidates with experience in magazines, newspapers, online news portals or B2B publications will be preferred.
