About the Role As a GSS Senior Petrophysicist at bp, you will be involved in various aspects of hydrocarbon and CCUS reservoir exploration, development, and production/injection globally. Your responsibilities may include well planning, data acquisition, and interpretation of petrophysical well data for new drill wells and well intervention/surveillance scenarios. You will conduct multi-well field studies to determine static and dynamic reservoir properties essential for geological modeling and reservoir simulation. Your expertise will cover a range of reservoir types, supporting oil, gas, and low carbon portfolios. You will collaborate within multi-disciplinary squads to provide petrophysics and subsurface integration skills, offering insights into subsurface uncertainty and risk. Effective communication and collaboration with other subsurface team members are crucial to address challenges across drilling, completions, production operations, finance, and related groups. What You Will Deliver - Deliver high-quality petrophysical analysis integrated with geological and engineering data to support exploration and field development on a global scale. - Develop subsurface scenarios, characterize and communicate subsurface uncertainties, and utilize this knowledge for planning and delivering technical products. - Clearly communicate subsurface uncertainty to colleagues and business leaders, facilitating the development of risk management and mitigation plans. - Uphold bp's commitment to safe, responsible, and sustained performance while demonstrating strong individual and leadership behaviors aligned with bp values. - Mentor and coach junior team members, share best practices, and contribute to solving technical and business challenges through innovation. Must-have Qualifications - Advanced Degree (MA, MSc, or PhD) in geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, or a related science-based field. Minimum Years of Relevant Experience - 12 years of petrophysics experience in an integrated oil and gas company, focusing on exploration, field appraisal, development, production, or well planning. Must-have Experiences/Skills - Proficiency in well log interpretation packages like Techlog and Petrel. - Experience with various logging tools and interpretation methods, including advanced logs such as image logs, NMR, tri-axial resistivity, and formation pressures. - Knowledge of reservoir quality assessment from core data and construction of petrophysical models for geological model building. - Strong communication skills to convey subsurface uncertainty, risk, and value effectively across disciplines. - Commitment to data and knowledge management, sharing best practices, and collaborating within diverse teams. - Adherence to bp's Code of Conduct and values, with a collaborative and team-focused approach. - Ability to manage multiple work fronts, prioritize effectively, and continuously seek to develop new skills. - Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Good-to-have Experiences/Skills - Experience across the field life cycle, including exploration, appraisal, development, production, and decline/abandonment. - Well planning experience and familiarity with diverse geological environments and lithologies. - International work experience and proficiency in managing stakeholders. - Knowledge of agile working practices. As a Petrophysicist at bp TSI, you will play a crucial role in supporting well planning, resource progression, and low carbon opportunities across bp's global portfolio by analyzing and integrating well data, describing petrophysical uncertainty, making data acquisition recommendations, and collaborating with other disciplines. Key Responsibilities: - Analyze and integrate available well data to define rock and fluid frameworks for integrated subsurface products. - Describe petrophysical uncertainty and alternative scenarios at the well and reservoir scales and effectively communicate their impact. - Make recommendations on data acquisition plans. - Actively participate in bp's petrophysics community, sharing best practices, seeking innovation to solve technical and business challenges. Qualifications and Experience: - Advanced Degree (MA, MSc, or PhD) in geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, or related field. - Minimum 5 years of experience as a petrophysicist in an integrated oil and gas company or with a service provider. - Proficiency in reservoir characterization, log interpretation, working with large datasets, integrating petrophysical products with geological models, and using well log interpretation software. - Strong analytical skills, ability to collaborate across disciplines, and fluency in spoken and written English. Preferred Skills: - Experience in cased hole log interpretation, data visualization tools like Spotfire/PowerBI, Petrel, and computer programming (especially in Python). - Familiarity with statistical methods, machine learning, and data analytics. Working Environment: You will report to the Petrophysics Discipline Leader at bp TSI and receive technical coaching and assurance from the Petrophysics Discipline Leader in the United Kingdom. While based in Pune, India, you will collaborate remotely with an integrated subsurface team located in multiple locations. You will have access to bp's global Petrophysics Community for support, technical expertise, and skill development.
