Community Staff Nurse

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established Community Nursing workforce and be part of Dumfries South Home team. As a band 5 post covering St Michaels, Shebburn, and Gillbrae GP surgeries in the heart of Dumfries, you must be NMC registered, and a driving licence is essential. If you have a disability that precludes you from holding a driving licence, consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged. Your role will involve supporting patients registered with all three practices. You will be expected to provide high-quality, effective care within the community and work in partnership with patients, professional healthcare providers, care providers, and other agencies. Clinical work will include wound management, catheter care, and supporting patients at the end of life. The service aims to focus on prevention, early intervention, and support self-management to enable people to live longer, healthier lives at home. Good communication skills and the ability to work autonomously within the team are essential for this role. The Community Nursing Service operates an open access policy available 365 days a year, 24 hours per day. The service does not operate on a waiting list; care needs are prioritized, and the team responds to planned and unplanned care. Unscheduled visits and those requiring urgent intervention should be responded to promptly. You will be delivering care to patients as delegated by the Community Charge Nurse.
