Communications Systems Engineering Manager

As a Communications Systems Engineering Manager at MaxLinear, your primary role will involve leading the development of communications ICs with advanced signal processing blocks. This includes breaking down complex problems into manageable sub-problems, assigning tasks to engineers, tracking progress, and identifying and resolving any obstacles hindering progress. You will also be responsible for deprioritizing tasks when necessary and ensuring alignment on resource allocation. Additionally, you will interact with RF, ASIC design, and marketing teams to set deliverable expectations and drive the team towards achieving them. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the development of communications ICs with advanced signal processing blocks - Track progress, identify obstacles, and provide support to ensure project advancement - Interact with cross-functional teams to set expectations and drive deliverables - Act as a Debug Lead to resolve customer-side issues and rally team members towards solutions - Mentor staff engineers and provide technical guidance - Participate in methodology development to enhance efficiency - Contribute to creating training materials for internal and new hires - Encourage patent creation and innovation within the team - Be ready to engage in design/debug work during emergency situations Qualifications: - Solid understanding of modern communications systems at both signal processing and system levels - Ability to work across different functional areas such as RFIC, ASIC, and software - Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and C/C++; familiarity with System-C and high-level synthesis tools is a plus - Strong academic background (Masters or PhD) in signal processing or related field - Minimum 15 years of work experience in areas like modulator/demodulator design, multi-rate filter banks, error control codes, power amplifier linearization, physical layer, beamforming, and MIMO technologies Please note that MaxLinear is a global, NASDAQ-traded company known for its innovative solutions in the communication technology space.
