Civil Draftsman – Job Description

Position Summary:

A Civil Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings and plans for civil engineering projects such as buildings, roads, drainage systems, and infrastructure works. The role involves working closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to convert conceptual designs into accurate CAD drawings.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (B.E / B.Tech).
• 2–7 years of relevant project experience (depending on role level).
• Knowledge of safety standards, quality systems, and construction codes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drafting software.
• Create detailed plans, sections, elevations, and layouts for civil engineering projects.
• Draft structural, architectural, and site development drawings as per project requirements.
• Update and revise drawings based on engineer/architect comments and site conditions.
• Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, codes, and specifications.
• Coordinate with engineering and project teams for design clarity and correctness.
• Maintain proper documentation and version control of drawings.
• Assist in preparing BOQs, as-built drawings, and shop drawings.
• Conduct site visits when required to collect measurements and verify details.

Required Skills :

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D & 3D); knowledge of Revit, SketchUp, or Civil 3D is an advantage.
• Good understanding of civil construction methods, materials, and structural basics.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Work Environment:

• Split between office and construction site.
• Requires field supervision, site visits, and coordination with various teams.

Salary Range:

• ₹10,000 – ₹25,000 per month
• (Varies based on experience, location, and project size)
